Important Information

Volunteers are essential to the successful delivery of Junior Achievement’s programs. Each year, more than 120 volunteers from local business, associations, and individuals in Sarnia Lambton Area go into classrooms and together with the teachers:

  • Encourage students to consider on the advantage of remaining in school until they acquired the necessary skills and attitudes to undertake the long-term goal of a successful career.
  • Build a positive attitude towards the work field.
  • Enhance self-esteem and confidence, teamwork, leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Appreciate business and economic concepts and the advantages of entrepreneurship.
  • And be introduced to wonderful role models from their communities, like yourself.
Testimonials

"Dollars With Sense is a great program. It is a good introduction to personal finances for the children - the simple but important material from the program is not offered in school curriculums. The students were very receptive and engaged in the material. A great learning experience for both myself and students."

Mike Thornton, DWS Volunteer. 2005

"I have been a volunteer with JA and the ESIS program for 5 years. To be able to use my knowledge, coupled with the terrific program and training provided to me by JA, I feel that I am actually contributing quality into the lives of our young people. To see their reactions while they learn these useful and practical life skills is priceless."

Dan Tye, ESIS Volunteer. 2005

"The kids make volunteering with JA so fun! I love helping them learn about concepts that will be important to their success in the future."

Hsiu-Yan Chan, Company Program Volunteer. 2005
